# duration_parse

Parse any duration into seconds and every common format: ISO 8601 (P1DT2H30M, PT1.5S, P2W), clock (1:02:03.5, 02:30), Go / compact (1h30m, 2d4h), and plain English ("an hour and a half", "2.5 days", "3 weeks ago", "90 secs"). Returns total seconds / milliseconds / minutes / hours / days, normalised ISO 8601, H:MM:SS, compact and human text, and flags month / year approximations. Up to 50 inputs per call. Price: $0.001 USDC per successful call (x402, Solana). Same tool over HTTPS: GET https://scorptech.it.com/api/x402/v1/duration-parse

## Example call (MCP tools/call, JSON-RPC 2.0)

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "duration_parse",
    "arguments": {}
  }
}
```

## Why duration_parse is rated High

duration_parse triggers real processes with real consequences. An agent gone sideways doesn't fire it once. It starts dozens of builds, sends mass notifications, or burns through compute before anyone looks up.

Risk signals: Bulk/mass operation — affects multiple targets

## Use case

AI agents invoke duration_parse to trigger actions in ScorpTech x402 API. What it does depends on the arguments the agent supplies, and its effects often reach beyond the immediate call: builds kicked off, notifications sent, workflows started.

## Recommended policy (PolicyLayer)

Verdict: **Rate-limited**. Enforced by the PolicyLayer MCP gateway (https://policylayer.com/mcp-gateway) before a call reaches ScorpTech x402 API:
