## Example call (MCP tools/call, JSON-RPC 2.0)

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "update_acl",
    "arguments": {}
  }
}
```

## Why update_acl is rated Medium

ACL updates modify permissions and access controls reversibly but with significant blast radius—incorrect ACL changes could grant unintended access or lock out legitimate users. This is Write (not Execute, as it modifies configuration rather than executing arbitrary code) and falls short of Destructive (ACLs can be corrected). High severity due to security implications in an infrastructure context.

From the tool's own definition: "Tool name 'update_acl' indicates modification of Access Control Lists, which are security-sensitive configurations."

## Use case

AI agents use update_acl to create or update resources in Proxmox MCP Server, usually the action step of a workflow, after the agent has gathered context. Every call changes real data in your Proxmox MCP Server environment.

## Recommended policy (PolicyLayer)

Verdict: **Rate-limited**. Enforced by the PolicyLayer MCP gateway (https://policylayer.com/mcp-gateway) before a call reaches Proxmox MCP Server:

```json
{
  "version": "1",
  "default": "deny",
  "tools": {
    "update_acl": {
      "limits": [
        {
          "counter": "update_acl_rate",
          "window": "minute",
          "max": 30,
          "scope": "grant"
        }
      ]
    }
  }
}
```
