# extract_figma_frames

Extract all frames from a Figma file using depth=3 tree traversal (DOCUMENT -> CANVAS -> SECTION -> FRAME). CRITICAL: uses depth=3 not depth=2 — depth=2 only gets SECTION nodes, missing the FRAME nodes inside them. Returns structured FigmaFrame objects with bounding boxes, section names, and transition targets.

## Example call (MCP tools/call, JSON-RPC 2.0)

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "extract_figma_frames",
    "arguments": {}
  }
}
```

## Why extract_figma_frames is rated Low

extract_figma_frames performs read-only access to Figma design data. It retrieves frame information with bounding boxes and metadata but does not create, modify, delete, or execute any operations. The clarification about depth parameters is implementation detail that doesn't change the fundamental read-only nature of the operation.

From the tool's own definition: "Tool description states it 'Extract all frames from a Figma file' and 'Returns structured FigmaFrame objects' — this is a retrieval operation with no modification or side effects."

## Use case

AI agents call extract_figma_frames to retrieve information from Nodebench without modifying anything. It is typically the context-gathering step in research, monitoring, and reporting workflows, before the agent takes action elsewhere.

## Recommended policy (PolicyLayer)

Verdict: **Allowed**. Enforced by the PolicyLayer MCP gateway (https://policylayer.com/mcp-gateway) before a call reaches Nodebench:

```json
{
  "version": "1",
  "default": "deny",
  "tools": {
    "extract_figma_frames": {}
  }
}
```
