# remember

Save data the agent will need to reuse later — across this conversation or across sessions. Use when you discover something worth carrying forward (a resolved ticker, a target address, a user preference, a research subject) so you don't have to look it up again. Stored as a key-value pair scoped by your identifier. Authenticated users get persistent memory; anonymous sessions retain memory for 24 hours. Pair with recall to retrieve later, forget to delete.

## Facts

- Tool: `remember`
- Server: 19hz (`https://gateway.pipeworx.io/19hz/mcp`) — https://policylayer.com/tools/io-github-pipeworx-io-19hz.md
- Homepage: https://github.com/pipeworx-io/mcp-19hz
- Risk category: Write (Medium risk)
- Registry record: grade F, identity unverified
- Server auth posture: open
- Server CORS policy: *
- Server rate-limited: yes
- Parameters: 2 (2 required)
- Recommended policy verdict: Rate-limited

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `key` | string | yes | Memory key (e.g., "subject_property", "target_ticker", "user_preference") |
| `value` | string | yes | Value to store (any text — findings, addresses, preferences, notes) |

Parameters from the server's own tool schema.

## Example call (MCP tools/call, JSON-RPC 2.0)

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "remember",
    "arguments": {
      "key": "<key>",
      "value": "<value>"
    }
  }
}
```

## Why remember is rated Medium

The tool creates/writes persistent key-value data that survives across sessions. It is reversible (paired with 'forget' to delete), so Write is appropriate rather than Destructive. Misuse could lead to storing sensitive or manipulated data persistently, giving it medium severity.

From the tool's own definition: "Save data the agent will need to reuse later — stored as a key-value pair scoped by your identifier. Authenticated users get persistent memory."

## Use case

AI agents use remember to create or update resources in 19hz, usually the action step of a workflow, after the agent has gathered context. Every call changes real data in your 19hz environment.

## Recommended policy (PolicyLayer)

Verdict: **Rate-limited**. Enforced by the PolicyLayer MCP gateway (https://policylayer.com/mcp-gateway) before a call reaches 19hz:

```json
{
  "version": "1",
  "default": "deny",
  "tools": {
    "remember": {
      "limits": [
        {
          "counter": "remember_rate",
          "window": "minute",
          "max": 30,
          "scope": "grant"
        }
      ]
    }
  }
}
```
