# queryDatabaseRows

Answer a question about a table's rows in one call: a count, a total or an average, or the rows themselves. Call getDatabase with table first, then name the database, the table (id or name) and its fields exactly as it lists them. For a count or a total pass summaries, with where to filter: "how many are in progress" is where {"field": "Status", "is": "In progress"} with summaries [{"fn": "count"}]; "total Amount of the done items" is where {"field": "Status", "is": "Done"} with summaries [{"fn": "sum", "field": "Amount"}]; add groupBy ["Status"] for one line per status. Also by month, top N per group, running totals, shares, pivots (see groupBy, summaries). A choice or status field is matched by a choice's name. For rows pass sort, limit and select: "the 5 newest" is sort [{"field": "Created on", "direction": "descending"}] with limit 5. where can also filter by a calendar period such as this month or by a field of a linked table; query finds rows by text in the title and fast-search fields; view adds a saved view's filter; cursor (nextCursor from the last answer) gives the next page. Rows come back as columns plus one list of values per row, the first two being the row's id and version; an answer holds at most 8,000 characters and says how to narrow it. Only rows you may see are returned, counted or summed. A question that runs past its organisation's time limit is stopped: narrow it and ask again.
